Being a middle aged cat of 12 years, Sooty likes to spend a lot of time sleeping, preferably in a patch of sunlight or on a warm comfy bed, but she does still have her playful moments. Wherever she is, she will know if you are making a bed and will gallop in and dive under the sheets to catch hold of them. If you"re reading a newspaper - that"s where she has to sit - right in the middle of the article you"re reading. She will sit close to her owner when she is watching TV and pats her arm until the owner strokes her. Sooty still likes to play chase the snowman (a little toy on the end of a string) as well as diving into bags. Since she lost her sister 3 years ago, she has enjoyed human company much more and almost talks back to her owner now. She enjoys exploring the garden but doesn"t go much further afield now and is a big coward if another cat invades her territory - she sends her human mum out to repel the borders. When fully relaxed, her favourite position is lying flat on her back, front legs tucked under her chin and back legs spread in an ungainly fashion.
Sooty and her sister came from a Cat Sanctuary 8 years ago - they had been taken there because the owners grandchildren were terrorising them. She hasn"t had much contact with young children since then but is happy to meet new visitors and can easily tell who the cat people are. She hasn"t had much contact with dogs - although there is a Golden Labarador next-door-but-one, but Sooty always keep her distance.
She has a dry diet of biscuits and water these days - although she likes the idea of boiled ham, tuna, prawns, chicken and cheese, she only gets a tiny titbit occasionally and tinned catfood can cause an upset stomach.
She lives up to her name being black all over with a glossy coat and I"d say she"s quite a small cat in comparison to others. I hope this gives you an insight into what a cute cat Sooty is.
Sooty"s human family are sad that they cannot keep Sooty. The son is extremely allergic and the situation is becoming untenable for both Sooty and her humans. She would suit a quiet family home and will be a very lovng companion for someone.
