Recently we acquired a gorgeous, yummy, scrummy TOMCAT, complete with those sexy "bits", pungent tomcat smell and cheeky chops as big as balloons. Yummy. Makes all those other neutered males look soft! Of course things are better today. But yesterday, Fred was dirty, badly matted (causing him pain on his back) and unneutered. He was pretty scared also. Unbelievably this "feral" is actually just a stray boy that may have lost his way when he was very young, or could have been dumped, or his owner could have passed away before he could be neutered. Who knows what his story is. But for all his
years of struggle to survive, not only life in general but the problems that come with being a virile tomcat, amazingly he is a really friendly and really lovely boy. He reaches up to your hand if you go to stroke him and loves his head being stroked and scratched forever if you have the time. Fred the Ginger has a little white on his nose and has long ginger fur. He is gorgeous, gentle and will soon lose that testosterone smell. He needs someone who is understanding. He has been through a lot and may need someone with patience who will help Fred to settle back into home life. I just bet there is someone out there who adores tomcats in all their magnificance who will be Fred"s best mate for ever and ever. He has been around children in the garden and it seems he is okay around them, he also seems, to me, to be relaxed around other cats. Hard to assess at the moment as he is penned up. The door is wide open but he has no desire, it seems, to return to the great outdoors with all its hardships, as he is making no attempt to escape. Bless him. And thank God we have made him safe and sound.
