POSTED ON BEHALF OF CHESTER CAT CARE Meet Chewy. He is a 12 yr old Maine Coon. He's gorgeous and needs all the love and fussing you can give!! Such an affectionate boy and so vocal. Even though he is 12 he still loves ball on a string and climbs all over you while youre watching TV or playing on the laptop. For more information please visit www.chestercatcare.co.uk

Great with kids as you can see but would prefer no other pets.

hi i got a message on preloved regarding chewy. I have 2 other cats who are loved beyond compare they are mainly out door cats so they probably wouldnt bother chewy. has he been neutered and when would he be available to meet me?

Hi Debbie, thanks for getting back to us on Chewy, do you want to pm a contact to any admin member on here and we can then pass to Chewys rescue so you can discuss this easier with them, or you contact chester catcare direct.

Hi Debbie,
Have spoken to the rescue and they have said that they cant rehome him into a home with other cats as he really won't cope, but if your cats are outdoor cats and chewy would have access to out doors, that could possibly work for him. Alternatively we can help to find you another cat if you'd like us too, or was it a maine coon you wanted?

UPDATE
Chewy has been with his current fosterer for around 2 weeks now and in that 2 weeks they have learnt alot about his behaviour.
He needs a home with no other cats. He also needs a home where he can have access to outdoors on his own terms. A catflap will be the best way to do this. He acts like a toddler, throwing a strop and yowling at you if he can't get out (and this can be at any time of the day or night)
Due to his age and behaviours Nick Of Time believe him to be a "special" cat. He really needs his own home as soon as possible. The old man needs his retirement home.

More about Chewy
Chewy
Chewy is a big, hunky tabby and white twelve year old neutered male. He is named Chewy we presume because of his resemblance to Chewbacca, not due to any chewing - he has recently had a dental operation to remove a host of rotten teeth so he isn't really able to chew anything at all anymore, but he is a lot more comfortable as a result.
Chewy is fantastic with children and has shown himself to be gentle and affectionate with little ones of all ages, following them around and interacting with their toys. Other cats, however, are a different story.
Chewy came to the rescue as he does not get on at all with other cats - they scare him so he goes on the offensive, swiping, stalking and guarding food/trays. Because of this behaviour, he is regularly attacked by other cats, thus reinforcing the fear. He needs a new home with no other pets at all and ideally none around outside - somewhere out on the country would be ideal.
Chewy is very used to getting his own way and has some undesirable behaviours which it may take some time to curb- the main ones are spraying when he is in new environments or stressed out, wanting to be up playing at night time, vocalising inappropriately (eg at 3am) and scratching carpets as a means to get attention. Please understand that these are considerable problems - he can and will stay up ALL night and will ensure that you do as well- an experienced home needed! Despite these behaviours, he really is a fantastic cat. He would be best suited to a home with a cat flap so that he can come and go as he pleases; thus preventing him from having to "ask" to be let in and out all night long.
