Why the group was started
This group was originally set up just after the tragic case of Jenson was brought to our attention. He was a young Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was sold/given away on Gumtree. Less than 24 hours later he was found dead with suspected fighting wounds. It is our belief that many dogs that are sold and given away via Gumtree are for the use to fighting or baiting. LETS PUT A STOP TO THIS.
Our Mission
Animals that are listed on Gumtree DO NOT have a safe and secure future. Our ultimate goal is to get all advertising of animals banned on free listing sites. However as I’m sure you can appreciate this is a long term goal and cannot be achieved straight away. We can work towards this though. Our first step in this mission is to get Gumtree to stop allowing adverts for the sale of all live animals. We know there are many other sites that do the same thing but it’s our belief that if we can get Gumtree to stop then it will be much easier to get the others to follow suit. It also makes sense to concentre all our efforts in the same direction. This will be a long process but we are committed to making these changes happen.
Members Help
As a supporter of our group we are asking you all to help promote our group and the cause which we have also set up. Please cross post the group and the cause as much as you can and let’s get the word out there. LETS GO GLOBAL.
For those of you that have a little bit more time to spare we ask you to have a look at the listings on Gumtree and screen shot these ads so a file can be compiled with the evidence as a lot of the ads are taken down very quickly (this is further explained in another document).
