Name: Sam
Age: 15 months
Breed: Springer x Collie
Can I live with Children: Yes, older as a little clumsy
Can I live with cats: Probably not
Can I live with other dogs:Yes
Fostered In: Yately, Hampshire
Other Information
Sam has been in his current foster 6 weeks ago and had no basic training. He has no problems with food, loves to run. He will chase cats if they run and will do the 'collie stare' if they sit there but will try to provoke them. We think it could be worked on but would never trust him.
He loves other dogs just wants to play when out and about, but is submissive to his housemate when at home. His lead training needs to be worked on, he is crate trained and paces around the house when he wants to go out to toilet.
Message from his foster mum:
Since being with us he has learnt how to undo stair gates, how to love, how to behave with other odd animals - like dogs and cats. he can sleep now too - I don’t think he slept for first two weeks. he now knows what a treat is but is not food orientated and he will have food taken by another dog rather than standing up to them.
he loves to play tuggie, de-stuff teddies, sleep by my feet, run through the hedges and heathlands like it’s his first time all over again, snuggle on the sofa or floor (where ever we are), meet other dogs and run with them, and we have learnt to move everything out of his reach! he is such a different dog to what he was 6 weeks ago.
we just have to keep his mind and body busy like with any collie and once hes had the stimulation he quickly settles down to allow his human slave to groom him to sleep.
when r8chl popped round Sam was so excited to say hello but soon calmed down and didn’t leave her side, why would he if he had put her under a spell to stroke him constantly?
He has learnt what it’s like to be loved and soaks it in like a sponge to make up for lost time.
Sam is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped
