I have never been home checked and I do not have a problem in doing so.
I have 3 children aged 13, 9 and 4
I have a 1 year old cat who is female I'm not sure of her breed.
I have a mini lop who is also female and she thinks she is a dog lol and I have a male hamster and some fish. Yes I can keep them seperate if I need to.
I would foster dogs/cats.
I understand about nervous animals and that some have been through a rough time, I have also explained this to the children. My mum and dad rescued a 3 year old collie and he did not like my children at first but they just kept out of each others way when we went to my mums and after 2 weeks they were all best friends. He now loves children and not scared in any way.
