Name: Missie
Age: 5 years
Breed: Border Collie
Can I live with Children: Yes older
Can I live with cats: No
Can I live with other dogs: to be discussed
Fostered In: S.Wales
Other Information
Missie came into us in October. Her story is that her and another, older Collie were living with an older couple. The husband passed away and the wife had to move in with family and couldn’t take the dogs with her.
The dogs had been living alone in a house with people going in and feeding them and letting them out in the garden. As you can imagine when we went to collect the dogs both of them were very scared and stressed. Candy the older Collie went into longterm foster, but Missie was unable to settle in a foster home as she was too stressed.
She has spent some time in kennels with the kennel walkers taking her out a couple of times a week for her walks. Initially very nervous when taken from the kennel, and very nervous of strange sights/sounds, but her confidence got better as time has gone on. She does Collie stalk little dogs, sheep and strange people the more she got out the better she has become.
She has now improved in confidence so much she has moved into a foster home as an only dog for now (one step at a time)
This is what her fosterer has to say about this beautiful girl
My friend came around for a meal with her 7 year old ward earlier, who was very wary of Miss so i kept her in the Kitchen for a while. 2 hours later, he didn't want to go and was on the floor cuddling her. Despite both of them being wound up like tops her behaviour has been faultless.
I am totally impressed with her. To look at her you would think she has been here for months.
Just to make things even better she was clean and dry all night and didn't make a sound. She sleeps downstairs and doesn’t make a sound all night.
In the evenings she comes to sit with me and then takes herself off to her bed when she wants to settle for the night.
We will be looking for a very experience Border Collie home, who can bring Missie on in confidence so she can live a happy and contented Border Collie life. As she did live with another dog, we think this would be possible but would need to be a larger confident dog that can help her on her onto her next stage.
We would suggest a quieter household with no young children as she can still get stressed easily and may try to round them all up.
As you can see this girl is stunning, we know it won’t take long for her forever home with the dedication and love to help this girl
